Corten Steel Sculptures
Custom corten steel sculpture manufacturer in India — weathering steel commissions for gardens, public art, and architectural projects

FormForge is a custom corten steel sculpture manufacturer based in Noida, Delhi NCR, working with architects, landscape designers, and developers across India. Corten — also known as weathering steel — develops a stable rust patina over time, making it ideal for outdoor sculpture, garden installations, and large-scale public art that needs to live in the open air.
The studio has delivered over 600 installations in corten and related materials, fabricating site-specific commissions engineered for India's monsoon climate. Each piece is designed to age with intention — the patina deepens and stabilises, becoming part of the work's character rather than a flaw.

A588 / IRSM-41-97 corten grades selected for Indian climate, with engineered patina development over 18–36 months.
Indoor & outdoor applications
Garden sculpture, façade panels, courtyard centrepieces, and architectural screens — all sealed appropriately for site.
From sculptural to architectural
Standalone sculpture, integrated façade art, parametric corten panels, and monumental installations.
Patina control & sealing
Optional clear sealants for controlled patina, or natural weathering for projects designed to evolve.
Patina & sealing
Natural weathering
Outdoor / full patina
Unsealed corten allowed to develop full patina over 18–36 months. Best for outdoor sculpture, gardens, and projects where evolution is part of the brief.
Sealed corten
Indoor / controlled patina
Wax or matte sealant locks the patina at a chosen stage. Useful for indoor pieces, courtyard installations, or where rust runoff onto adjacent surfaces is a concern.

Frequently asked questions
What is corten steel and why use it for sculpture?
Corten steel — also known as weathering steel — forms a stable rust patina when exposed to the elements, which acts as a protective layer against further corrosion. For outdoor sculpture, this means a material that ages with character, requires minimal maintenance, and develops a distinctive warm tone over time.
How long does it take for corten steel to develop its patina?
Full patina development typically takes 18–36 months of outdoor exposure, depending on climate, rainfall, and humidity. In India's monsoon climate, the process is often accelerated. The patina cycles through orange, amber, and deep brown tones before stabilising.
Will corten steel sculpture stain my floor or surrounding surfaces?
During the initial weathering phase, corten steel can produce rust runoff that stains adjacent surfaces including stone, concrete, and paving. For installations near light-coloured paving or interior applications, we recommend sealed corten or designing adequate drainage clearance.
Is corten steel suitable for India's monsoon climate?
Yes. Corten steel was engineered for outdoor exposure and performs well in India's monsoon climate. We select A588 or IRSM-41-97 grades for Indian conditions, and the patina cycle accelerates in humid environments before stabilising into a durable protective layer.
Can corten steel be used indoors?
Yes, with appropriate sealing. Indoor corten installations are sealed with wax or matte sealant to lock the patina at a chosen stage and prevent rust runoff on interior finishes. It is a popular choice for feature walls, sculptural room dividers, and atrium installations.
Do you install corten steel sculptures across India?
Yes. FormForge is based in Noida, Delhi NCR, and has delivered corten steel sculpture installations in gardens, hotel grounds, corporate plazas, and public spaces across India.
What is the price range for a custom corten steel sculpture?
Corten steel sculpture costs range widely — a smaller interior piece and a monumental outdoor commission sit at very different price points. For reference cost ranges and what drives sculpture pricing, see our sculpture pricing guide.
Can I buy a corten steel sculpture directly, or is everything commissioned?
Some smaller works are available as direct purchases through our shop. Most of the studio's output is bespoke — commissioned to a brief, a site, and a scale that can't be stocked. Visit our shop for available works, or start a conversation to commission a piece.
